We would like to remind all citizens that we have a drug drop-off box in the lobby of MPD. You may drop off your waste medications (pills and patches) anytime. We can not accept needles, thermometers, liquids, or non-pharmaceutical waste however. MPD is open around the clock. The box is white and resembles a mailbox. It is to your right as you enter the lobby.

They attempt to convince you that your DNA, or other identifiable information has been compromised, and is attached to multiple crimes. The scammers attempt to convince you that you are somehow involved in criminal activity. These scams are based on fear of prosecution for an alleged crime.
The scammers instruct you to purchase multiple gift cards and provide the information to them immediately over the phone. They instruct you to not tell anyone about your activity and to not contact the local police.
Please be advised that the Mashpee Police Department, or any other law enforcement agency, will never request payment over the phone or for you to purchase gift cards, in order to prevent any type of criminal legal action towards you.

From the Mashpee Police Detective Unit – Residents please be advised that during this holiday season the Mashpee Detective Unit has been noticing an increase in the number of fraudulent scams occurring in our town. These scams usually target our elderly residents. Remember, anyone that asks you to buy gift cards for payment of a bill or money owed could be trying to defraud you. Please be cautious when giving out personal information and doing business on the internet. If you have packages delivered from online shopping and can’t be home during delivery times, have a neighbor look for the items. We don’t want anyone to fall victim to these scams and thefts. Let us be mindful of our elderly residents and watch out for one another. If you have questions you can always call the Mashpee Police Department at (508)539-1480 and we will assist you with any questions. – Mashpee Police Detective Unit
