The Mashpee Police Bike Unit is comprised of officers who utilize the Geo Orbital battery powered mountain bikes. The Mashpee Police were one of the first police departments in the country to adopt these wheels and use them on patrol. Officers utilize these bikes in conjunction with various town functions such as parades, town picnic and crowd control.
During the spring and summer months, this unit is used for traffic control, beach patrol, and any other location where a vehicle would not have access. It allows officers to respond quickly to detect and deter criminal activity. It has been our experience that Bike team officers are more approachable to the public which fosters the community service approach.
